SpendLess 1.0.0 ✨
Welcome to SpendLess 1.0.0
This is a very big update that we are presenting to you today.
It includes many new features, improvements, optimizations, modifications, and above all... a brand new interface!
We have spent the past few months reviewing the way SpendLess was designed aesthetically, technically, and also in terms of its future:
The interface has been completely redesigned and revamped to have better finishes, better UX/UI, better performance, and a better foundation for future improvements.
The core system has also been updated with PyFlp 2.2.1 (created by Demberto), which we have reworked to be compatible with FL Studio 24, and the core is now compiled into a single file instead of multiple files.
The technologies used have also evolved, moving from Create-React-App, Styled Components, FontAwesome, and SCSS to ViteJS, TailwindCSS, Lucide Icon + FontAwesome, and ShadcnUI.
This will allow us to work much faster on the new features brought to SpendLess and have a much more stable and accessible interface.
Many errors have been fixed and prevented, thanks to the use of TypeScript throughout the project.
Now, let's take a look at the new features, improvements, changes, and fixes brought to SpendLess:
General Rework
- Enhance UI with TailwindCSS and ShadcnUI
- Rework menu bar for a better experience
- Rework all dialog popups for more stability
- Add Lucide Icons and switch most of them from FontAwesome
- Add mastering folder in projects folder for future
Security & Soft Backups
- Add better logs to core using logging
- Add backup folder in project folder and automatic soft backup system to prevent SpendLess troubleshooting
- Add Load Backup options in context menu to use backups
Introducing Rework
- Rework SpendLess intro slides
- Intros are now full page and not popups anymore
Projects Rework
- Fully rework project cards to Spotify-like cards for better intuitiveness
- Add anonymizer icon
- Add option in context menu to show project details
- Disable some options when a project is currently opened
- Rework parts of the preview player
- Change edit icon
- Add better preview player button
Archives Rework
- Fully rework archives with a datatable
- Add pages
- Add table sorting by header
- Add search bar
- Fix unarchiving

Settings Rework
- Settings are now much more intuitive
- Settings have labels + descriptions for better understanding
- Categories now have icons
- Categories are now collapsible
Searching
- Add searching system for projects
- Searching system as MacOS-like popup
- Searching popup shortcut (
Ctrl + f)
- Projects can be opened from search list
- Context menu can be used on projects in search list
Optimizations
- Covers are now optimized when uploaded
- Audio previews are now optimized when uploaded
- Projects now have lazy loading
Details & Informations
About soft backups
- Thanks to the soft backup feature, using SpendLess is now much less risky and adds a high layer of security.
- Soft backups are copies of your project BEFORE the next modifications made by SpendLess, which means they are created only when SpendLess is about to modify your project.
- Soft backups only copy project files and not samples or settings.
- Soft backups have a history not exceeding 5 backups to prevent projects from taking up too much space.
- Soft backups are not preserved when converting to .spend
- Loading a backup later than the most recent one may cause you to lose your progress.
- If you want to make a complete backup of your projects, you will find this option in the settings.
About the Core
- PyFlp is no longer supported by its author, which means that any bug related to the project data structure may take longer to handle.
- We plan to improve the core and make PyFlp a more reliable tool in the future.
About Ableton
- Support for Ableton should arrive in the next updates.
- The data format of Ableton projects being less complex, it should be much easier to support changes in the structure of Ableton projects over time.

About the future
The field of music is already not very accessible and relatively expensive, we do not wish to contribute to this and want to make music creation more accessible.
This is why SpendLess is a FREE application and will remain so imperatively and definitively.
However, even though the application and a very large part of its features will remain free, some future features may require premium access.
The features concerned will not be necessary for the proper functioning of SpendLess and will be available mainly for people who can afford to use them.
